TOKYO - Japan Airlines and Panasonic are collaborating to extend inflight internet service - JAL SKY Wi-Fi – from JAL’S North America and Europe routes to Southeast Asian and other international routes. Passengers in all classes are able to send and receive emails, and to update and navigate their social networking service (SNS) utilising their wireless LAN devices during the flight.
PERTH - Ritz-Carlton Hotel Company, L.L.C. and Far East Consortium, a leading Asian residential apartment developer, have signed an agreement for development of The Ritz-Carlton, Perth, heralding the much-anticipated return of the luxury hotel operator to Australia. The 204-room property, with additional one, two and three-bedroom residential apartments, is due to open in 2018.

GENEVA - Premium air passenger numbers rose 6.1% in January, a strong result compared with full-year 2013 growth of (4.2%, says IATA. “Growth in premium travel has been supported by positive developments in the business environment,” IATA says.
BEIJING – China’s largest online travel agency, Ctrip.com, together with Ping An Insurance, has begun selling pollution travel insurance. Tourists who have booked packaged tours or backpack tours via Ctrip that last between three and seven days can buy pollution insurance on the company’s website.
GENEVA – The International Air Transport Association (IATA) says the airline industry remains on track to deliver a second consecutive year of improved profitability - despite a slight downward revision to its industry outlook for 2014 to an industry-wide profit of US$18.7 billion (previous forecast US$19.7 billion).
