Brisbane’s first Emirates A380 touches down

BRISBANE - The first Emirates A380 direct service from Dubai to Brisbane, EK434, touched down this morning from Dubai, before continuing its journey to Auckland. The daily A380 service, one of Emirates’ two daily flights to Brisbane, offers an increased capacity of 132 seats per flight, adding an additional 193,000 seats per year in and out of Brisbane. www.emirates.com (ATI).

LAN Colombia joins oneworld alliance, TAM to follow

BOGOTA - LAN Colombia, a company related to LATAM Airlines Group SA (LAN Airlines), has entered the oneworld alliance as an affiliate member. LAN Airlines has been a full member of oneworld since 2000, and all its other passenger airline affiliates have subsequently joined the alliance as affiliate members - LAN Argentina, LAN Ecuador, LAN Peru. Another member of LATAM, TAM, will enter oneworld on March 31, 2014, with its Paraguayan affiliate to follow on a date to be confirmed (ATI).

Air travel up but Asia weakens as Europe gains strength

GENEVA - Demand for air travel recorded another solid month of growth in July, with overall revenue passenger kilometres (RPKs) up 5.0% compared to July 2012. IATA says all regions were up year-on-year, with emerging markets recording the strongest increases.. Capacity rose 5.5% on the previous July, ahead of demand, and industry load factor dropped 0.4% to 82.4%.

Air India Business Class Australia to Europe from AUD5,717

Air India direct to Australia from August 30

NEW DELHI – After an absence of almost 16 years, Air India will return to Australian skies from August 30 with daily direct flights. It will utilise a new 787 Dreamliner fleet, which is already serving Air India routes to London, Frankfurt and Paris. Air India has seven Dreamliners in service, with another 20 on order.

Flights to Australia from New Delhi will be direct to Sydney, then via Melbourne on the return leg, four days weekly (Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, Saturday), and direct to Melbourne, returning via Sydney three days weekly (Wednesday, Friday, Sunday.

SIA to add third daily flight to New Delhi

SINGAPORE - Singapore Airlines will add a third daily flight from Singapore to New Delhi for the Northern Winter (October 27, 2013 – March 29, 2014). All flights will be serviced by 777 aircraft.

From 27 October, SIA and subsidiary SilkAir will operate a total of 107 weekly services* to 11 destinations in India - Ahmedabad, Bangalore, Chennai, Coimbatore, Hyderabad, Kochi, Kolkata, Mumbai, New Delhi, Thiruvananthapuram and Visakhapatnam. www.singaporeair.com
