Air India direct to Australia from August 30
NEW DELHI – After an absence of almost 16 years, Air India will return to Australian skies from August 30 with daily direct flights. It will utilise a new 787 Dreamliner fleet, which is already serving Air India routes to London, Frankfurt and Paris. Air India has seven Dreamliners in service, with another 20 on order.
Flights to Australia from New Delhi will be direct to Sydney, then via Melbourne on the return leg, four days weekly (Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, Saturday), and direct to Melbourne, returning via Sydney three days weekly (Wednesday, Friday, Sunday.
Air India is offering introductory return fares from Australia to Delhi and 11 other major cities in India – Mumbai, Kolkata, Chennai, Bangalore, Hyderabad, Ahmedabad, Amritsar, Kozikode, Kochi, Thiruvannantpuram and Chandigarh – starting at AUD919 inclusive (Economy) and AUD3,935 inclusive (Business). The same fares apply for onward travel to Kathmandu, Kabul, Yangon and Dhaka, and are available for purchase till August 31.
For Australian passengers travelling onwards to Europe (London, Frankfurt, Paris), all-inclusive return fares start from AUD1,500 (Economy). A free overnight stopover in Delhi is included.
