“Made in China” plan targets 10 industries for manufacturing upgrade

September 29, 2015

BEIJING - A key committee advising China’s Central Government on its “Made in China 2025” plan has identified 10 priority industries which can upgrade China’s manufacturing sector, aiming to move the country away from low-end manufacturing to more value-added output.

The list covers new information technologies, numerically controlled machines and robots, aerospace devices, ocean engineering/shipping, advanced rail equipment, new energy vehicles, electrical equipment, agricultural machines, advanced materials, and biological medicine and medical instruments.

Xin Guobin, who directs the three-month old office under the State Council that is spearheading the plan, told China Daily that the guidance will play a vital role in increasing China’s manufacturing ability. “Future industry policies will be implemented based on this guidance,” Xin said. The most “eye-catching” target is a 90% market share for China’s domestic servers in the finance and telecommunications sectors by 2025. www.webershandwick.cn (ATI).
