SEOUL - South Korean President Moon Jae-in and North Korean leader Kim Jong-un have agreed to hold a third inter-Korean summit in Pyeongyang in September. This will mark the third meeting of its kind this year, following their face-to-face meetings on April 27 and May 26.

The agreement between the two Koreas was made during the fourth high-level talks on the northern side of Panmunjeom, the town that lies across the line that separates the two Koreas.
In a joint press release, the two sides agreed to “review the progress of implementing the Panmunjeom Declaration, and discuss further methods to fulfill the Declaration in a sincere manner”.

The Panmunjom Declaration for Peace, Prosperity and Unification of the Korean Peninsula was adopted by the two leaders at their April 27 meeting, at which they agreed to work together on ending the Korean War,

This, the Declaration said, would begin a new era of peace and sharing of commitments to end divisions and confrontation by approaching a new era of national reconciliation, peace and prosperity.

This declaration includes the denuclearisation of the Korean Peninsula.

South Korea's delegation was led by Minister of Unification Cho Myoung-gyon, while his North Korean counterpart was Ri Son-gwon, Chairman of the Committee for the Peaceful Reunification of the Country.  www.koreanet.kr (ATI).
