Singapore adopting AI healthcare technology to meet new challenges

July 31, 2018

SINGAPORE – The island State is rigorously exploring innovative artificial intelligence healthcare solutions to tackle challenges brought by the aging population and a shrinking supply of local manpower.

Discovery AI, developed by the National University Health System (NUHS), has been launched at  Singapore's first public healthcare AI datathon and expo.

The system incorporates different AI tools and is capable of pooling and processing patients' medical data to facilitate clinical diagnosis and patient management, according to a note on new developments on healthcare from lawyers Baker McKenzie.

BM says its advanced functions include predicting patients' risk of re-admission and diagnosing appendicitis.

The AI system has been tested at the National University Hospital, and is expected to be deployed in phases across NUHS institutions in coming years.  www.bakermckenzie.com (ATI).
