April 10, 2014

HONG KONG - Shangri-La Hotels and Resorts will open its third property in Europe, the Shangri-La Hotel, At The Shard, London, on May 6. The first high-rise hotel in London, it is located on the historic South Bank of the River Thames, in a new 306-metre-high, glass-clad building known as The Shard, London.

Shangri-La debuted in Europe in Paris in 2010, opening in Istanbul in 2013. The London property occupies levels 34 to 52 of the 72-storey Shard.  Its contemporary interior design complements Renzo Piano’s masterful architecture, with views over iconic landmarks like St. Paul’s Cathedral, Tower Bridge and the Houses of Parliament.

“Our continued expansion in Europe reflects growth opportunities for the brand and portfolio,” said Shangri-La President and CEO, Greg Dogan.  “The Shard is a landmark synonymous with London.” www.shangri-la.com (ATI).
