Qantas, American expand oneworld partnership on Australia-US routes

December 18, 2015

SYDNEY - An expanded commercial partnership between Qantas and American, the world’s biggest airline, will add 50 return services weekly between Australia and US, including Honolulu. From Dallas/Fort Worth, Los Angeles and San Francisco, passengers flying from Australia can access more than 150 destinations in North America through the American network.

The new services coincide with a lower Australian dollar which improves the competitiveness of Australia as a destination for US travellers. In the year to September 30, a record 551,000 Americans visited Australia, up 8% on-year.
Qantas’ Sydney-San Francisco services will increase to six weekly in January 2016, with all flights to be operated by Boeing 747-400 aircraft with the same interiors that feature on the airline’s flagship A380s.
American’s flagship B777-300ER will operate daily on the Sydney-Los Angeles route with fully lie-flat seats in First and Business Class and international Wi-Fi. www.qantas.com www.aa.com/
