Melbourne Airport international passengers up 11.3% in May

MELBOURNE - Melbourne Airport total international passengers increased 11.3% in May 2014 compared with 2013 to reach 603,000 passengers. Japan saw 104.8% growth with Jetstar's new Melbourne-Narita service starting in April. Other North East Asian countries performed particularly strongly, the region up 24.9% for the period, including China, up 17.3% which is the strongest growth for 2014 excluding Chinese New Year.
In other markets, passenger numbers on-year increased from Hong Kong (50.4%), Singapore (31.5%), Taiwan (28.1%), India (23.3%), Vietnam (22.6%), Indonesia (15.9%), the Philippines (14.3%) and Malaysia (14.2%).
