India to be world’s fifth-largest economy: Modi

NEW DELHI - Prime Minister Narendra Modi says India is on the way to becoming the fifth largest economy in the world.

Speaking at the India-South Africa Business Summit, he said India was the world's fastest-growing major economy and that the Government was committed to reforms that would further propel it.

At US$2.6 trillion, the Indian economy is currently ranked sixth in the world behind the United States, China, Japan, Germany and the United Kingdom.

Modi listed Government's initiatives including the push for boosting domestic manufacturing through Make in India and digitising the economy through Digital India as key economic drivers.  (ATI).
