Guangzhou-Shenzhen-Hong Kong high-speed rail open September 23

HONG KONG – China’s State newsagency Xinhua says the new Guangzhou-Shenzhen-Hong Kong high-speed railway will officially start operation on September 23. Ticket sales will begin at 8.am next Monday.

Xinhua described the 141-km railway, including 26 km in Hong Kong, with more than 40 stations, a a key part of China’s national high-speed railway network.

ravel time between the Hong Kong West Kowloon station and Guangzhou South station would be 47 minutes with a trip to Beijing taking 8 hours and 56 minutes.  www.webershandwick.cn  (ATI).
