University of Queensland to strengthen focus on Asia

BRISBANE – Andrew Griffiths, newly-appointed Executive Dean of the University of Queensland’s Faculty of Business, Economics and Law, plans to strengthen the faculty’s international position by continuing to develop and expand its Asia Pacific focus. He also wants to strengthening its ties in North America.

Previously Head of the UQ Business School, Prof Griffiths led a significant increase in the school’s revenue from international students, and oversaw a significant increase in the quality of international applications.

“My aim is to continue,” he says.

“The faculty will be driving research and exchange opportunities with other high-profile schools around the world.

“Our Business School is one of several UQ entities working on a major World Bank project in Indonesia and the Philippines - Capturing Coral Reef & Related Ecosystem Services (CCRES) – to unlock the natural wealth of coastlines, enhance local livelihoods and food security, improve community health and wellbeing, and sustain coastal ecosystems.”

The University’s Faculty of Business, Economics and Law (BEL) would also expand its relationships with corporations and major institutes of management in India.
