BEIJING – A senior Communist Party of China (CPC) official, Liu Yunshan, said on Tuesday that the sound and stable development of relations between China and Vietnam would greatly benefit both, China’s State newsagency, Xinhua, reported.

"The sound and stable development of bilateral ties will help to solidify the ruling position of the two parties, which is in the interests of the two parties and peoples of the two nations," Liu was reported as saying during a meeting with Vietnamese Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc.

Liu, a member of the Standing Committee of the Political Bureau of the CPC Central Committee, arrived in Hanoi on Monday for an official visit to Vietnam at the invitation of the Communist Party of Vietnam (CPV).

The CPC and the CPV constituted a community of shared destiny with strategic significance, Liu said. Liu also said that China and Vietnam are two highly complementary economies, having huge potential for practical co-operation.  www.webershandwick.cn (ATI).
