South Korean tourists targetted by Taiwan as part of Northeast Asia campaign

November 25, 2016

TAIPEI – Taiwan’s Tourism Bureau is ramping up efforts to increase the number of South Koreans visiting Taiwan as part of a strategy to grow its share of the Northeast Asian outbound tourism market.

Bureau Deputy Director-General Liu Hsi-lin said Taiwan has put great efforts into this area and is seeing results as evidenced by the 628,726 South Korean tourists arriving in the first nine months of the year, up 33.72% from the same period in 2015.
The Bureau says it is targetting younger South Korean non-group tourists through promotions centring on cuisine and pop culture. For group tourists, the Bureau is working with local travel agencies in South Korea to offer new packages. Taiwan has seen a sharp decline in the number of tourists from Mainland China. www.taiwantoday.tw (ATI).
