Lower fuel costs, more foreign visitors lift Japan Airlines

TOKYO – Japan Airlines has announced a 20% increase in profit for the first nine months of its current financial year, citing a fall in fuel prices but also pointing to the yen remaining weaker against the US dollar. JAL also highlighted a 47% increase in the number of foreign visitors to Japan in the first nine months of 2015.

JAL said what it has benefitted from termed ‘robust demand’ from inbound travellers, especially on North America, China and Southeast Asia routes. JAL launched four flights weekly between Narita and Dallas/Fort Worth in November, utilising its revamped 787-8 aircraft. www.jal.com (ATI).
