China completes construction of Beijing's new airport

July 1, 2019

BEIJING - Construction of the new Beijing Daxing International Airport was completed on Sunday, and preparations have started for the operation of what is expected to be one of the world's busiest air traffic hubs.

China's State newsagency, Xinhua, said the complex, scheduled to be operational before September 30, will be a pivotal air traffic hub for international travel to and from China, contributing to projections of China becoming the world's largest civil aviation market in the mid-2020s.

Located 46 km south of downtown Beijing, it is designed to take pressure off the overcrowded Beijing Capital International Airport in a north-eastern suburb of Beijing. www.webershandwick.cn (ATI).
