China’s Statistics Bureau says economic headwinds can be weathered

August 15, 2019

BEIJING - China's National Bureau of Statistics (NBS) says China's economy 'continued to operate within a reasonable range with steady upward momentum in July, despite mounting challenges at home and abroad".

In the first seven months of this year, high-tech industries outpaced the overall industrial sector in both investment and output, NBS data showed, as foreign trade also maintained steady expansion, with exports expanding 10.3% from a year ago.

Pointing to jobs data as a critical indicator of economic health, the Bureau said that they remained stable in July, the State newagency, Xinhua, reported.
