HANOI - Vietnam Airlines has reported a strong business performance in 2019, despite what it describes as a challenging business landscape which saw a market slowdown, depreciation of key currencies, and limited existing infrastructure to meet increasing travel demand.
HANOI - Vietnam Airlines will launch its 19th route into China - from Danang to Shanghai - on January 19. There will be two return flights weekly, on Thursday and Sunday.
SINGAPORE - Singapore Airlines will add Brussels to its European network next year, when non-stop flights are introduced from Singapore to the Belgian capital from October.
HANOI - Vietnam Airlines will launch a new daily return flight connecting Hanoi and Macau from December 16. VN is also opening new routes from Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City to Shenzhen (China), with the first flights scheduled for November 27 and 28.
The Hanoi - Macau route is the 17th to China and the 62nd international route for Vietnam Airlines - expanding the airline's flight network to 101 destinations.
JAKARTA - Garuda Indonesia is celebrating the 50th anniversary of its inaugural flight to Australia. The carrier's first Bali-Sydney service, operated by a DC-8 jet aircraft, departed from Jakarta on November 23, 1969.
The initial service operated weekly on Mondays. Garuda now offers daily return flights to Bali from Australia and 3-5 flights weekly return flights to Jakarta from Sydney, Melbourne and Perth.
HANOI - For the first nine months of 2019, Vietnam Airlines Group has reported a total consolidated revenue exceeding VND 76.7 trillion (US$3.3 billion), with consolidated profit before tax (PBT) reaching nearly VND 3.3 trillion (US$142 million), accounting for 97.9% of the full-year target.
